GM Mortgage Company is a 3rd generation family-owned business. Its founder, Jerry Manson, had a saying that still sticks to this day, “Promise only what you can deliver and deliver what you promise.”
Jerry’s son John took over as President in 1995. John Manson’s vision for the company is very simple yet effective: “Surround yourself with the best people, have a plan, then execute the plan.” GM’s agents and associates offer over 250 combined years of successful lending experience and with it comes exceptional and unrivaled expertise as well as outstanding customer service.
Now, John’s daughter Brittany Manson Marvin is stepping up to the management plate with youthful ideas and innovative solutions to ensure GM’s continued unparalleled service to future generations.
As our clients have moved, GM Mortgage company has expanded its lending originations into the following six states: California, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, New Mexico and Tennessee.

Problem solving – and making things that are complex seem easy – is probably John Manson’s biggest strength. His background in accounting coupled with his ability to bring the best out of people truly makes him the asset you want on your side of any transaction.
President and CEO of GM Mortgage Company since 1995, John is a well-respected, savvy and successful professional who brings a “block and tackle” mentality to the bargaining table.
John is also dedicated to giving back. He is on the Athletic Board and various committees for the University of San Diego, is a Co-Founder of Vigilucci’s Beach Bocce World Championship which has raised over $3 million for local charities since its inception in 1980, and is a longtime member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers.
A self-described sports fanatic, Manson was a standout defensive back at USD. In addition to earning a B.A. in History, he merited Player of the Year honors, ultimately signing a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. Married to Debbi since 1981, John has two daughters and five grandchildren.
